"Orchestrating Change: a2. orchestra's Beyond Blue Fundraiser"

Read below about how a2. orchestra is helping to support those living with mental health through their fundraiser for beyond blue.

Article No. 2

Music has the power to heal and inspire, and when combined with a great cause it can make an even greater impact. That is what a2. orchestra is aiming to do with their latest fundraiser for an Australian mental health organisation called Beyond Blue.

Mental health is a critical aspect of overall wellbeing and it affects everyone regardless of gender, age, or background. However statistics show that men are more susceptible to mental health issues and are less likely to seek help. According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, suicide is the leading cause of death for men aged between 15 and 44, and three-quarters of all suicides are committed by men. a2. orchestra has pledged to help support this cause and help spread awareness of this issue facing many people everyday, including musicians.

Musicians in our upcoming concert Canvas (left to right) Aiden Labuschagne, Nathan Herbert, Bailey Ireland, Josh Sirek and Khye Cash, all wearing blue and sitting on a wall laughing.

During one of the rehearsals for our upcoming concert Canvas, the members of the orchestra will be encouraged to wear blue to support Beyond Blue. The colour blue is synonymous with mental health awareness, and the orchestra hopes to spark conversations about men's mental health and the importance of seeking help when needed. We also encourage those attending our upcoming concert Canvas to support this cause and wear blue themselves on the night.

The fundraiser will be supported by a donation link, and all proceeds will go towards Beyond Blue's initiatives for mental health. Beyond Blue offers a range of services including counselling, support groups, and mental health education to help men struggling with mental health issues. Classical music can play a significant role in addressing this issue by raising awareness and supporting mental health organisations such as Beyond Blue.

The a2. orchestra's fundraiser is a testament to the power of music in bringing people together for a good cause. By wearing blue and donating to the fundraiser, we can show our support for men's mental health and make a positive impact on the lives of those who are struggling.
